and then there was 1…|sarasota children’s photography

My session with Maya & Grayson started out normal enough but quickly turned into a little adventure & balloon rescue!  I had gotten four balloons for Maya’s birthday tutu shots and asked Daddy to hold them (even though they were in a plastic bag, I was worried about one popping on the grass) and sure enough, he set them down and POP!  So we had three balloons left – that’s ok – all good.  Time for the shots and I tied them to the chair…but not good enough evidently.  I walked away from where they were at and after several minutes looked over and the balloons were gone!  Oh no!  I quickly walked to the area and spied them, caught underneath the canopy of trees overhead.  We determined that Daddy couldn’t climb the tree to rescue the balloons, so I MacGuyvered a solution by taking my light off the stand, extending it full length and looping it around the ribbons the balloons were tied to.  By doing this, I caught two balloons – woo hoo!!  We let Maya walk around, holding onto one of the two remaining balloons when suddenly (you guessed it) POP!  Again!!  So, after all of that…there was just one balloon left.

Mom had warned me that Maya wouldn’t smile for strangers – she was completely prepared for her “serious” face.;-)

But, I worked my magic on her and captured this…

And at the end, I rewarded both kids with ring pops – the new staple in my camera bag!

Great images. How lucky the parents are to have you capture this moment.
